Meet Hira.

“What can I do to help my friends boost their brain and mental health so they can be happier and live a better quality of life?” With that simple thought comes the birth of Mindful Neuroscience. I started with a simple project, offering complimentary consultation and assessment for my family and friends. Little did I know how much in-demand my services were! The numbers just keep growing and even though my workload increases, I couldn't be any happier meeting and helping new people every time. My passion for Mindful Neuroscience just keeps growing stronger. We live in our heads all the time, why not make the best out of it?

Why Mindful Neuroscience?

Simple: mindfulness & neuroscience. My care heavily focuses on the aspect of mindfulness. Neuroplasticity and mindfulness work best together in building a better and stronger brain and keeps your mental health in check as well. So it’s a double win!

Background

I have a Bachelor Degree of Arts in Mass Communications from Oklahoma City University and worked as a Social Media Officer to a Multimedia Trainer. Being in the tech industry is something I am good at but not what I am passionate about. I knew I had to do something for myself and my future so I took the plunge and applied to King's College London and got my Master's Degree in Neuroscience and Psychology. During my academic year, I was also awarded King's Interdisciplinary Award exploring mental illness through Visual Arts incorporating mindfulness and neuroscience into my project. My dissertation is on the social implications of Epilepsy in Older Adults in the United Kingdom. While doing my research, my interest in dementia sparked and I’ve worked closely with UK Dementia Research Institute as well as Alzheimer's Research UK. At present, my research is focusing on young adults in the UK with early onset dementia at King’s.

My experience in the Neuropsychology department made me realize how passionate I am about this field and having space where I can practice my knowledge and also help as many people as possible is a dream so here I am, constantly a work-in-progress and striving to keep learning so I can add them to my skill set and provide the best service for you.

On the other hand, I am also a qualified Mindfulness practitioner and working on getting my CBT practitioner certificate!

Area of Interests

Neuropsychology, early onset of dementia in younger adults, neurorehabilitation and mindfulness.
